Alfons Maria Mucha (1860 – 1939) often known in English and French as Alphonse Mucha was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist. He produced many paintings illustrations advertisements postcards and designs. Fruit (1897) is probably one of Mucha's most popular works. The picture shows a young woman with an armful of fruit glancing backwards at the spectator.
